Our History
Who We Are
Asili Coffee was founded by Peter Kang’iri in 2023. Peter’s Journey into the world of coffee began in his childhood in Murang’a County, Gikoe village, where he grew up in a coffee-producing community. Peter experienced firsthand the positive impact that coffee had on his family basic survival and social fabric. However, as he grew older, he witnessed the gradual decline of the coffee industry in his community.
This left an indelible mark on Peter’s memory, and he recognized then the urgent need for action to revitalize the dying coffee industry. Between 2019 and 2024, Peter acquired 160 acres of prime agricultural land in Embu and Kirinyaga through a limited company known as Kambi Tulivu Limited. In 2023, driven by his personal experience and deep-seated passion for coffee, Peter embarked on a mission to breathe new life into the industry by initiating and inaugurating phase 1 of the Asili Coffee project by cultivating coffee on 60 acres of the acquired land. This marked the commencement of operations for Asili Coffee Estates.
He envisioned a business model that not only prioritizes profitability but also embraces social and environmental impact. Asili Coffee Estates aims to reignite the world’s love affair with coffee and ensure it’s prosperity for generations to come.
